Sugar Association urges FDA to extend Nutrition Facts deadline for bags of sugar

IEG Policy published an article regarding the Sugar Association’s letter to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requesting a compliance date extension for sugar producers for the new Nutrition Fact Labels (NFP) requirements for bags and boxes of sugar.

Reporter Margarita Raycheva writes:

“The Sugar Association’s request does not come as a surprise, as FDA is still working to tie the last remaining loose ends on its NFP mandate, and those are mostly tied to the added sugar declaration – one of the most complex aspects of the new panels.”
