Homemade Perfect Iced Tea

See the sweetness dissolve perfectly into your drink when using superfine sugar in this homemade iced tea recipe.

Superfine sugar, also known as caster sugar or baker’s sugar, if often used in drink because of its fine grain size, which allows it to dissolve quickly and evenly in cold liquids.

Homemade Perfect Iced Tea  

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water, cold
  • 4 to 6 tea bags, depending on strength
  • ice cubes
  • 4 to 8 tablespoons superfine sugar 
  • 1 fresh lemon (optional garnish)

Directions

  1. In a ½ quart pan or teakettle, over high heat, bring fresh, cold water to a full rolling boil.
  2. Pour over tea in heatproofpitcher or container; stir briefly.  
  3. Allow to steep 3 to 4 minutes, or until desired strength.
  4. Remove tea bags or strain tea into a separate container; cool.
  5. To serve, pour into glasses over ice. 
  6. Stir 1 tablespoon of superfine sugar into each glass, according to individual taste. 
  7. Garnish with lemon slices, if desired.

Tips 

  • Homemade iced tea can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
