Classic Buttercream Frosting

Use confectioners’ sugar, also known as powdered sugar, to make this creamy buttercream frosting for all your sweet treats

Confectioners’ sugar, also known as powdered sugar, is crucial for creating thick, smooth, and sweet frostings. its fine powder dissolves quickly and provides a smooth texture, while also thickening the frosting and helping it retain its shape.

Classic Buttercream Frosting 

Ingredients

  • 3 ¾ cups confectioners’ sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, with electric mixer at low speed, combine confectioners’ sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla. Beat at medium speed 1 to 2 minutes, until creamy.

Tips 

  • If desired, add more milk until frosting is spreading consistency.
